Dakshin Research Locations
Research Activities: Nest monitoring, satellite tagging, and climate impact studies on leatherback nesting beaches. Dakshin collaborates with local communities and government agencies to protect these critical nesting habitats from climate change, poaching, and habitat destruction.
Research Activities: Long-term monitoring of nesting, community-based conservation, and efforts to mitigate bycatch in collaboration with local fishing communities. Odisha’s coast is one of the largest mass nesting sites for olive ridleys in the world.
Research Activities: In partnership with local organizations, Dakshin supports community engagement programs, such as turtle walks, hatchery initiatives, and monitoring of nesting sites. These efforts are aimed at reducing human disturbance and promoting awareness in urban coastal areas.
Research Activities: Dakshin conducts surveys and monitoring to assess population status, habitat use, and threats. Although research is less extensive here than in Odisha and the Andamans, ongoing studies help understand turtle behavior and habitat health in the coral-rich Lakshadweep Islands..
