EDUCATION AND OUTREACH
Seeks to create a series of workshops and a school-based curriculum for Indian youth to learn
about the marine life that inspired Satish’s life work and the need to keep those ecosystems healthy.

This Project's Main Goals
1. Connection to the schools and students our Impact Partners already work with
We are designing this workshop series and curriculum module so it can be shared with other NGOs that might have students who would like to learn from it.
2. A partner whose expertise is curriculum development in Marine Space
Reefwatch has expertise in curriculum development for schools across India of varying types from IB to local government schools.
Phase 1 : Ongoing Impact
806 kids
Engaged in workshop
Designed an after-school workshop series for kids in Goa, Karnataka, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, that uses our films in connection with the research and conservation activities ongoing by our impact partners.
139
teachers trained
Helped facilitate a workshop between Dakshin Foundation and Firki, the teachers education arm of Teach for India, to help educate their community of teachers on how to bring marine conservation topics into the classroom.
Curriculum Development
for Indian Syllabus
Working on a curriculum integrating Marine Biology and Conservation topics that will be able to fit right into the Indian Syllabus requirements and make it easier for teachers to be able to cover these important topics.

education campaign #1
Design an after-school workshop series that leverages both the
long format film as well as the short impact films we are making
in connection with the research and conservation activities
ongoing by our impact partners
- These will be conducted by our Conservation Impact Partner, Reefwatch
- Offer these new workshops in Goa, Karnataka, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, where our Marine Mammal Stranding Network and Reef Restoration Programs are already taking place
- Ensures the film gets screened in places where Satish worked

education campaign #2
Work with Firki to connect experts from the marine conservation
space with teachers from the Teach for India community.
- Bring experts from Dakshin and Reefwatch to conduct online webinars and conferences.
- Tap into one of the biggest support systems for teachers in the Indian teaching community to help them improve their ability to teach marine conservation and socially inclusive conservation design
- Create learning materials and a curriculum to aid teachers interested in integrating these subjects into their classrooms.
